Son mari, \"64Le pr\u00e9sident de la section locale 64, Tom Payne, l'a asserment\u00e9e lors de la r\u00e9union de la section locale de novembre 2023.\n

Briser les barri\u00e8res et relever les d\u00e9fis<\/h2>\nDepuis qu\u2019elle a rejoint le syndicat et qu\u2019elle travaille dans un secteur \u00e0 pr\u00e9dominance masculine, Payne a admis avoir rencontr\u00e9 de nombreux d\u00e9fis. \u00ab Certains gars m\u2019ont taquin\u00e9e au d\u00e9but, mais j\u2019ai fait preuve de pers\u00e9v\u00e9rance et j\u2019ai travaill\u00e9 dur \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9. \u00ab J\u2019ai d\u00fb prouver que j\u2019\u00e9tais l\u00e0 pour apporter ma contribution, pas seulement pour occuper un espace. \u00bb Depuis qu\u2019elle est devenue directrice commerciale, elle a d\u00fb faire face \u00e0 encore plus de d\u00e9fis, notamment \u00e0 la gestion d\u2019entrepreneurs \u00e0 double face dans l\u2019\u00c9tat de l\u2019Oklahoma, o\u00f9 l\u2019on dit que le \u00ab droit au travail \u00bb est une r\u00e9alit\u00e9. Avec le d\u00e9marrage de projets plus importants, comme le centre de donn\u00e9es de Google \u00e0 Pryor, dans l\u2019Oklahoma, Payne cherche \u00e0 recruter davantage d\u2019entrepreneurs syndiqu\u00e9s et \u00e0 augmenter la taille du programme d\u2019apprentissage agr\u00e9\u00e9 de la section locale 64. \u00ab Le travail reprend progressivement dans notre juridiction \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9. \u00ab Je veux que ma section locale soit pr\u00eate \u00e0 g\u00e9rer ce travail. \u00bb\n

Promouvoir la diversit\u00e9 et l'inclusion<\/h2>\nDans le but de promouvoir \u00e9galement la diversit\u00e9 et l'inclusion, Payne m\u00e8ne des initiatives visant \u00e0 accro\u00eetre la visibilit\u00e9 et l'accessibilit\u00e9 du Local 64 dans l'\u00c9tat.\n\n\"female\u00ab Nous souhaitons participer \u00e0 davantage de salons de l\u2019emploi, mettant en valeur les calorifugeurs m\u00e9caniques hommes et femmes \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9. \u00ab La repr\u00e9sentation est importante, et en mettant en valeur la diversit\u00e9 de nos membres, nous invitons davantage de personnes \u00e0 explorer les opportunit\u00e9s dans notre m\u00e9tier. \u00bb La section locale 64 compte cinq femmes membres, ce qui est important pour une petite section locale. En r\u00e9fl\u00e9chissant \u00e0 l\u2019importance de sa r\u00e9cente \u00e9lection, Payne pr\u00e9voit de prendre d\u2019autres initiatives, notamment la d\u00e9fense de pratiques de travail \u00e9quitables et des droits des travailleurs. \u00ab Pendant que je m\u2019acclimate encore \u00e0 mon nouveau poste, je pense que mon r\u00f4le \u00e9voluera pour aborder ces questions cruciales \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9, ajoutant qu\u2019elle esp\u00e8re donner plus d\u2019autonomie aux membres gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9ducation et \u00e0 un engagement proactif.\n

Objectifs du Local 64<\/h2>\nEn ce qui concerne l\u2019avenir, Mme Payne croit que la section locale 64 aura un avenir prosp\u00e8re, ax\u00e9 sur le perfectionnement professionnel et l\u2019engagement communautaire. \u00ab Nous nous engageons \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer notre programme d\u2019apprentissage et \u00e0 \u00e9largir notre rayonnement communautaire \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9. En favorisant la croissance et l\u2019engagement communautaire, elle vise \u00e0 renforcer la r\u00e9putation de la section locale. \u00ab La camaraderie au sein de notre section locale est sans \u00e9gal \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9. Leur participation et leur soutien ont \u00e9t\u00e9 inestimables, des d\u00e9fil\u00e9s de la f\u00eate du Travail \u00e0 l\u2019aide aux cours d\u2019apprentissage. \u00bb Dans le cadre de ses efforts pour organiser davantage d\u2019entrepreneurs et augmenter sa part de march\u00e9, Mme Payne souhaite sensibiliser davantage les gens aux avantages de l\u2019isolation m\u00e9canique, lorsqu\u2019elle est correctement install\u00e9e par des professionnels syndiqu\u00e9s. \u00ab Nous explorons des pistes comme les audits \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques pour mettre en valeur notre valeur aupr\u00e8s des entreprises et des institutions \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9. \u00ab Les entreprises ne savent pas ce que nous faisons et combien nous pouvons leur faire \u00e9conomiser d\u2019argent et d\u2019\u00e9nergie en installant correctement l\u2019isolation m\u00e9canique. \u00bb Ces m\u00eames efforts pourraient \u00e9galement cr\u00e9er davantage d\u2019opportunit\u00e9s de travail pour ses membres plus pr\u00e8s de chez eux. \u00ab \u00c0 l\u2019heure actuelle, environ la moiti\u00e9 de nos membres voyagent \u00bb, a-t-elle d\u00e9clar\u00e9. \u00ab J\u2019aimerais leur permettre de travailler plus pr\u00e8s de chez eux. \u00bb\n

Teresa Payne a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lue directrice commerciale de la section locale 64 du HFIAW, la premi\u00e8re femme directrice commerciale de l'histoire de la section locale.<\/p>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":3384,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_et_pb_use_builder":"on","_et_pb_old_content":"The members of HFIAW Local 64 Tulsa elected their first female Business Manager to lead the Local last fall.\n\n\n\nTeresa Payne had held previous elected positions in the small Local before being encouraged to seek a higher office.\n\n\"I started in June of 2018, and my apprenticeship began in September of the same year,\" Payne said. \"I've previously served on the Executive Board and as a Trustee, always driven by my passion to support our Local.\"\n\nAfter turning out in 2022, the 40-person Local encouraged Payne to run for Business Manager. Her husband, \"64Local 64 President Tom Payne, swore her in at the Local's November 2023 meeting.\n

Breaking barriers and facing challenges<\/h2>\nSince joining the union and working in a male-dominated field, Payne admitted she faced a number of challenges.\n\n\"Some of the guys ribbed me at first, but I showed up and worked hard,\" she said. \"I had to prove that I was here to contribute, not just occupy space.\"\n\nSince becoming Business Manager, she has faced even more challenges, including dealing with double-breasted contractors in the So-Called \"Right to Work\" state of Oklahoma.\n\nWith larger jobs starting up, such as the Google datacenter in Pryor, Okla., Payne is looking to organize more union contractors and increase the size of Local 64's registered apprenticeship program.\n\n\"Work is steadily picking up in our jurisdiction,\" she said. \"I want to get my Local ready to man this work.\"\n

Promoting diversity and inclusion<\/h2>\nIn an effort to also promote diversity and inclusion, Payne is spearheading initiatives to elevate Local 64's visibility and accessibility in the state.\n\n\"female\"We aim to participate in more job fairs, showcasing male and female Mechanical Insulators,\" she said. \"Representation matters, and by showcasing our diverse membership, we invite more individuals to explore opportunities in our trade.\"\n\nLocal 64 has five female members, which is significant for a small Local.\n\nReflecting on the significance of her recent election, Payne plans to take on more initiatives, including advocating for fair labor practices and worker rights.\n\n\"While still acclimating to my new position, I believe my role will evolve to address these crucial issues,\" she said, adding that she hopes to empower members through education and proactive engagement.\n

Goals for Local 64<\/h2>\nLooking ahead, Payne believes Local 64 will have a thriving future, centered on professional development and community engagement.\n\n\"We're committed to enhancing our apprenticeship program and expanding our community outreach,\" she said.\n\nBy fostering growth and community involvement, she aims to fortify the Local's reputation.\n\n\"The camaraderie within our Local is unparalleled,\" she said. Their participation and support have been invaluable, from Labor Day parades to helping apprenticeship classes.\"\n\nAs part of her efforts to organize more contractors and increase market share, Payne wants to increase awareness about the benefits of mechanical insulation, when properly installed by union professionals.\n\n\"We're exploring avenues like energy audits to showcase our value to businesses and institutions,\" she said. \"Businesses don't know what we do and how much we can save them money and energy by properly installing mechanical insulation.\"\n\nThese same efforts may also create more work opportunities for her members closer to home.\n\n\"Right now, about half of our members are traveling,\" she said. \"I would like to allow them to work closer to home.\"\n
