The 2024 Master Apprentice Competition (MAC) featured a remarkable lineup of talented apprentices from across the United States and Canada. Each participant has demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication, representing their respective Local Unions and Conferences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a look at this year\u2019s competitors and the Conferences they represented:<\/span><\/p>\n

Southeast Conference: Local 78 Birmingham \u2013 Holden Sykes<\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Holden Sykes, a fourth-year apprentice from Belgreen, Alabama.\u00a0 When asked what Union Membership means to him, Sykes said, \u201cBeing a union member is much more than just a job to me, it’s a legacy. My grandfather began insulating in 1942 in Mobile, then transferred to Local 78 after 12 years, where he continued working for another 38 years. My father was also a dedicated member of Local 78 for 37 years, and my brother represented Local 78 (at the MAC) last year in Houston. I hope to follow in their footsteps and have a long and successful career in this trade and industry\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Middle Atlantic States Conference: Local 89 Atlantic City\/Trenton \u2013 Sean Prebor<\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Sean Prebor, a fourth-year apprentice from Local 89, shared his perspective on what Union membership means to him. \u201cFor me, being part of the union provides a foundation of security for my family. It ensures job stability, access to quality healthcare and peace of mind knowing my future is secure with a solid retirement plan.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Southwest Conference: Local 94 Oklahoma City \u2013 Skylr Moore<\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Skylr Moore, a fourth-year apprentice, shared his thoughts on the 2024 MAC competition, noting how inspiring it was to witness his fellow competitors’ determination. \u201cOne of the most memorable parts of the competition was seeing everyone push through tough moments and give it their all. The level of effort and commitment was truly remarkable.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Eastern Canada Conference: Local 131 Saint John \u2013 Bradley Meade<\/b><\/p>\n

Bradley Meade from Local 131 Halifax reflected on his experience at the 2024 MAC competition, sharing that his favorite part was the camaraderie and the opportunity to connect with other skilled apprentices. For future MAC competitors, his advice is simple: \u201cKeep moving forward. If you hit a snag, step away and come back with a clear mind. There’s no time to waste.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

New York-New England States Conference: Local 12 New York \u2013 Juan Carlos Marine<\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Juan Carlos Marine, a fourth-year apprentice, hails from New York. When asked about this year\u2019s MAC competition, Marine said, \u201cMy favorite part about the competition was witnessing the incredible level of talent and dedication displayed by all the participants. It was inspiring to see everyone pushing their boundaries and showcasing their skills.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

At-Large Locals: Local 17 Chicago \u2013 Steve Woodworth<\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Steve Woodworth, a fifth-year apprentice from Local 17 Chicago, is known for his energetic approach to the competition. Reflecting on his experience, he shared that he enjoyed meeting trainers from other Locals. \u201cConnecting with trainers from different locals was really valuable. It was great to exchange ideas and learn from each other’s experiences.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Western States Conference: Local 16 San Francisco \u2013 Martin Navarro<\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Martin Navarro, a 5th-year apprentice from California, shared his thoughts on Union membership, saying, \u201cJoining the union opened my eyes to the value of skilled work and the support of a strong community. What started as just a job has become a career I’m proud of.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Western Canada Conference: Local 118 Vancouver \u2013 Gabriel Nicol<\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Gabriel Nicol from Local 118 Vancouver said his favorite part of the 2024 MAC was, \u201cmeeting all the different Locals and seeing the opportunities that come from being here.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Central States Conference: Local 25 Detroit \u2013 Logan Flanery<\/b><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Logan Flanery from Local 25 Detroit said his favorite part of the 2024 MAC competition was \u201cmeeting the other competitors and people from other Locals.\u201d Something Flanery would like to say to future MAC competitors is, \u201cJust try your best.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Midwest States Conference: Local 34 Minneapolis \u2013 Jordan Haller<\/b><\/p>\n

Jordan Haller, a fourth-year apprentice from Local 34, is passionate about weightlifting. When asked about Union membership, Haller said, \u201cTo me, Union membership feels like being part of a family.\u201d His favorite aspect of participating in this year\u2019s MAC Competition was the opportunity to meet and connect with other competitors.<\/span><\/p>\n
