The Most Skilled Mechanical Insulators Start Here

We are the Insulation Industry International Apprenticeship and Training Fund (IIIATF), the training component of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers (IAHFIAW). Our mission is to provide instructors with the best resources to recruit and train Union Mechanical Insulators across North America.

Whether someone is just starting out or looking to advance their skills in the Mechanical Insulation industry, we provide our training coordinators and instructors with the tools to help ensure apprentices master their skills, work safely and advance their careers.

What is the IIIATF?

The IIIATF is committed to supporting the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committees (JATCs) across North America.

The IIIATF provides a path to a rewarding career in the mechanical insulation industry, as well as other areas such as firestopping, asbestos and lead mitigation, sound attenuation, and specialty fabrication. We offer top-notch training tools for the success of apprentices and journeymen within the IAHFIAW to help ensure that each individual becomes an expert in mechanical insulation.

With the IIIATF, local training centers / JATCs have access to state-of-the-art training resources, all focused on keeping our union at the forefront of the mechanical insulation industry.

This means our apprentices and trainers receive the most advanced education, helping them lead the field in everything from insulation to firestopping, thermography and more.

Resources for JATC Coordinators and Trainers

The IIIATF is here to support our JATC Coordinators and Trainers. We provide a wealth of materials designed to elevate training programs. In addition to numerous annual training events, we provide training coordinators with access to an extensive online resource library, recruitment materials and the ability to quickly order apparel for your apprentices.

These resources help our trainers continue to develop the best-trained mechanical insulators.

“What is a Mechanical Insulator?”

Mechanical insulators protect buildings and systems by installing, applying and maintaining mechanical insulation on pipes, tanks and HVAC systems.

Their expert work controls temperature, prevents energy loss and ensures environmental efficiency, powering industries and facilities from the inside out. Members of the Insulators Union are the original Energy Conservation Specialists.
