Instructor Enhancement Classes

Teaching Techniques One introduces the basics of effective learning, focusing on creating a learner-centered environment for adult learners. Techniques Two through Four builds on these foundations, offering hands-on experience with team-based assignments, research and presentations while refining presentation and teaching skills. Participants engage in collaborative projects, self-evaluation, and feedback, culminating in a comprehensive teaching project. Teaching Techniques Five focuses on labor history and unionization, providing participants with strategies for organizing workers and understanding the challenges faced by unions throughout U.S. history.

Computer Class

We offer an optional 3-1/2-day computer class starts Thursday, August 7, 2025, starts at 6:00 PM—Sunday, August 10, 2025. This class will cater to the individual needs of our students, empowering them to enhance their Microsoft Office skills at their own pace and convenience.

This is our 19th year offering courses to help our instructors increase their teaching skills. While we are confident that our instructors are very competent in teaching the skills of the trade, the one outstanding issue that has been brought to our attention has been, “Help me to be a better instructor.”
Each Local will decide who would like to attend these courses. We strongly recommend that each Local and their Apprenticeship Coordinator “map out” a plan of who will attend these courses. We would like to see every Local that has a Registered Apprenticeship Program participate in this program.
